It developed under the rule of Romans at the time the towns of Palmaria and Pollentia were established. Moreover, the northern town called as Bocchoris which goes back to the Roman times was a Rome’s federated city. The local economy was mostly drive through the olive cultivation, salt mining as well the viticulture.
